Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis for course placement upon receipt of a complete application. Early applications are encouraged. Returning and new students have different application processes. WCATY will notify families of decisions four weeks after receiving a complete application. All accepted students will receive a welcome packet, course placement information, and a student handbook a month before the program begins.

Students who have never participated in a WCATY program.

Submit the following to complete your application:
- Application
- Application fee ($75)
- Current year or semester grade report
- Two letters of recommendation
- A recent (previous school year at least) writing sample, at least one page long, that demonstrates the student's best possible writing
- Copy of most recent standardized test scores (e.g. WKCE)
- Optional: Copy of NUMATS scores
- Optional: In lieu of test scores, submit copies of class work in a field of study similar in nature to the selected WCATY course
- Optional: Essay or other evidence explaining strong academic ability if not demonstrated in grade report or test scores

Students who have participated in at least one WCATY program (ALP, STEP, YSSP, or The Academy) are considered returning for all programs.
